Advanced Massage to the Assessment and Treatment of Headaches for Massage Therapists and Bodyworkers

Dr. Benjamin's approach to the assessment and treatment of headache has been shown to dramatically reduce and eliminate headaches through the use of specific body therapy techniques. Participants learn how to perform effective hands-on techniques to break the headache cycle as well as gaining new tools to help clients take control and prevent their headaches. Combinations of traditional and alternative methods that work well together for relieving headaches are also covered.

During the workshop you will observe and perform detailed headache assessments and hands-on headache treatment. You will learn a dozen techniques to teach clients that will help them prevent a headache before it starts. Practitioners bring clients who suffer from headaches to be assessed by small groups of workshop participants and Dr. Benjamin.

At least one in four people in North America suffer from migraine or muscle tension headaches. Hours of productive work time are lost due to the incidence of headaches. Drugs only offer a temporary answer. Today we know that multiple stressors interact to produce headaches and that there are patterns that can be identified in the body that can trigger chronic headaches. Come and learn how to rid your clients of chronic headaches.

There are five major components to the training:

Assessment: Participants practice detailed history taking, palpation of triggering structures and specific musculoskeletal assessment tests.

Theory: This portion presents in depth, how to use the history, positive assessment test findings and results of palpation to determine the type and causes of the headaches.

Technique: Detailed treatment techniques to eliminate energetic and muscular blocking are taught, practiced and reviewed several times during the training.

Integration: After learning the theoretical basis and assessment procedures, the participants integrate this information through hands-on energy techniques.

Clinic: Toward the end of the training participants practice their skills by taking part in an injury assessment clinic, free and open to the public, under Dr. Benjamin's supervision.

Days: This workshop may be given in a two-day, three-day, or four-day format.

Fee: Registration fee varies depending on the length of the course.

CEUs: Category A CEUs are provided. The number of contact hours varies depending on the length of the course.
